Summer English Teacher (5 weeks)
Want to put your teaching skills to the test? Live in Villa Soleada and teach English during summer
camp at our elementary school. Work with motivated, hilarious and awesome kids from five different
villages and our children’s home.
Dates 2013:
June 26th - July 30th , 2013
*For flights, arrive on the first day of the trip and depart on the last date of the trip
The first week includes orientation activities, opportunities to get to know students and families, and significant time for
planning camp activities. Camp runs Monday to Friday during the final 4 weeks.
Requirements:
*There is an application process to participate in this program. Spots are limited on a first come, first serve basis
- Ability to live in remote village with limit access to electricity, running water, and air conditioning.
- Ability to work with children under stressful conditions
- Although not a requirement, we encourage volunteers to go on a service trip with us prior to volunteering with us
for one month.
- Intermediate to advanced level Spanish.
Cost: $1,200
*Once accepted you will pay a non-refundable deposit of $300 to secure your spot. Your remaining balance is due 1
month before your arrival.
What's Included:
Pickup and drop-off at airport, housing, 3 meals per day, clean drinking water, orientation, laundry, WiFi internet,
Volunteer Card Insurance.
What's not included:
Exit tax fee ($37 at the airport), excursions, airfare
Typical Day:
- 8AM Breakfast with host family
- 9AM Teach English
- 12PM Lunch1PM Tutor and mentor children in small groups or on-on-one
- 4PM Free time, lesson planning or optional soccer game
- 6PM Dinner
- 7PM Hang out with friends in village
- 10PM Go to bed
Friday, Saturday and Sunday:
FREE to travel or rest.

- Essay: In 500 words or less, explain your reasons for wanting to serve as an English teacher, as well as what
experiences/ qualifications you will bring to this experience. Please be sure to answer the following questions in
your essay:
- This position will require you to live and work with monolingual Spanish speakers; how are you prepared
to handle this unique experience? How proficient is your Spanish? What is the highest course level you
have taken
- Highlight any previous teaching experience you may have or why you think you would make an ideal
English teacher
- What makes you interested in this program?
